Countdown to season 2009/10
Welcome to Up The Dale, an unofficial website made by an avid fan of Rochdale AFC.
This was made for the set of fans which may be small, but as fiercely loyal and
fanatical as any group of football followers the world over. This success starved
club has overcome overwhelming odds, surviving from its origins in the late 1800īs,
on into the 21st century, when many clubs, some of greater stature have fallen by the wayside,
never to be heard of again. I dedicate these pages to those fans who have, through thick
and thin, travelled the length and breadth of the country, to cheer their heroes on and
to one in particular, who for over 65 years has cheered them on with unwavering undying
support ....... he knows who he is, donīt you Dad.
Believe in the sign!
Latest News The fixtures for the coming season have been released and Rochdale open with a difficult game (arenīt they all)
at Vale Park. Port Vale have appointed Mickey Adams as manager in the close season and he will be wanting to get off to a flying
start. Dale have been drawn away to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the
Football League Cup 1st Round. The game will be played in the week commencing August 10th. The only
previous meeting between the two sides was back in 2002 in the Football League Cup when 'The Owls' narrowly overcame the visitors
1-0 by courtesy of a 2nd minute goal by Gerald Sibon. Currently Sibon (b. 19-04-1974 in Emmen, Netherlands)
is plying his trade with Dutch Eredivisie club Heerenveen and helped them overcome Steve McLaren and
FC Twente Enshcede in the 2008-09 Dutch Cup final, which went to penalties (5-4 on pens, 2-2 AET).
